Event 3: HOX Zodiac: Honoring the HORSE

I was able to attend the final event this quarter that featured amazing artists along with our professor Victoria Vesna where there was a discussion on the horse zodiac. There were particularly two artists that caught my eye despite having a wonderful interaction with all as they shared intriguing stories and experiences.

Maryam Razi

Maryam is from Iran and found that she had a great interest in the zodiac horse as having these meetings and events, which I will soon bring up, all connect with culture, well-being, and so much between human and animal. She hosted a special event that involved having dinner at a beautiful garden around 8pm. There was about 15 guest and most of the individuals that attended were a high-profile artist in the area. Her duty was to go out shopping to purchase the fish that was then created for the first meal of the dinner party.

Two concepts brought that were very interesting were the "Royal Nisean Horse of Ancient Persia" and the "Persian Traditional Medicine".

This Ancient horse, now extinct, is native to the town of Nisaia and was primarily focused on as an artistic subject. This is when horse breeding became much more common as this stallion has an ancestral background from the royal and sacred Nisean breed of the Achaemenian Persians.

Then she brought up the concept of Persian traditional medicine that is composed of 4 humors, the blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm. Each part is also interconnected with the theory of the four elements: earth, fire, water, and air.

Aleksandra Mara

Aleksandra was another individual from the event that shared great insight as her passion for horses started at a very early age from joining horse camp. She attended one of the largest gatherings of herding cattle, about 300 cattle, with her horse and was able to get a short credit film as part of it was being filmed fr a movie. She brings up an interesting topic of the Chart of the horoscope where she agrees that although not scientifically supported, this chart is a format of living life that perfectly describes you as a person in this world.

I learned that my zodiac is the Dragon and I am "energetic and warm-hearted, charismatic, lucky at love, and egotistic".
